Frederick Marshall Moore - Orthopedic Researcher and Author
An orthopedic surgeon from Tampa, Florida, Frederick Marshall Moore, MD, performs surgeries with the Spine and Orthopedic Specialists. Throughout his 16-year career in orthopedics, Dr. Frederick Marshall Moore has researched and written extensively on orthopedics.
Dr. Moore’s career began in 2001 with his work as medical department head at the Naval Nuclear Power Training Command in Goose Creek, SC. After finishing his residency in orthopedic surgery, he spent the next 16 years performing orthopedic procedures while working at the Naval Hospital in Jacksonville (2008), Fort Belvoir Community Hospital (2011), Tarin Kowt, AFG Surgical Element (2013), Southeast Orthopedic Specialists (2020), and Spine and Orthopedic Specialists (2022).
Dr. Moore has innovated in multiple areas in orthopedics, including designing a positioning device for upper extremity procedures, also called the Spider Brace. Surgeons can use this device for procedures such as radial head arthroplasty and pinning of the scaphoid. The device can make for a more efficient, safe surgery, and some settings allow the physician to operate without an assistant. The surgeon has also presented on orthopedic topics, such as soft tissue injury, musculoskeletal infection, adhesions in spine surgery, and a "graft first" model for surgical decision-making in spine fusions.
Outside of his career, Dr. Moore has published the fictional works Tantalus Zero (book), The Emissary of Upper Haight (short story), and Virgins and Egos (short story). He has also written several screenplays that have earned multiple finalist accolades, including Let It Bleed, Play to Extinction, and Cleaver (CLVR). In his free time, he enjoys long-distance running, writing, and coin collecting.
